My new Vintage Crochet Backpack “Autumn Flowers” combines a simple, practical backpack with delicate floral details. The warm brown provides a beautiful, understated background for the crochet flowers in dusty pink, cream, deep bordeaux, and soft green, giving the backpack its romantic vintage look.

A Romantic Backpack with Crochet Flowers
For this backpack, I intentionally chose a relatively simple shape. The body is worked in a dense stitch pattern that creates a beautiful, even texture while also giving the backpack plenty of structure.
The flap adds a lovely contrast with a different textured stitch pattern. Small crochet flowers and leaves are arranged asymmetrically across the flap and the front of the backpack. This adds a playful touch without making the overall design feel too colorful.
I especially love the combination of vintage and cottagecore elements, but you can easily customize the design with your own favorite color palette.
Practical Details
The backpack closes with two drawstrings and an additional magnetic snap on the flap. The shoulder straps are adjustable with slider buckles, while a small handle makes it easy to carry the backpack by hand or hang it up.
You can also add an optional small inner pocket.
The finished backpack measures approximately 9.4 in (24 cm) wide and 3.9 in (10 cm) deep, making it a lovely small backpack for everyday use.
Materials
For my backpack, I used Friends Cotton 8/6, a 100% cotton yarn. You can also use a comparable #2 Fine / Sport Weight cotton yarn.
The small flowers and leaves are made with a finer cotton yarn. This is a great opportunity to play with your favorite colors or use up small amounts of leftover yarn to give your backpack a completely unique look.

The pattern is rated Advanced Beginner. You should already be familiar with basic crochet techniques, but the individual steps are explained in detail throughout the pattern.
